It's always difficult when what you hoped for and expected doesn't happen.

What I do find very wrong however is that it appears not all fans were treated with the respect they were entitled to!

I guess we have to remember Darren is only human, can only do so much and to put it bluntly I believe his *professional life* is organized for him, he just turns up and does as he's told too.

I also can't find the thread on the Sony Board, I went back over 30 pages? Deleted?

Yes, I think the fact that it didn't meet with expectations was a major problem - if it had only ever been billed as a group photo etc, people wouldn't have been so disappointed. I wonder if the radio stations didn't tell people about the changes in advance, as the fanclub has done?

Also I do find it disappointing to hear that people were not apparently treated with respect. I think if I were in that situation I would feel much less let down in the long run if I were treated like a person whose feelings might be a bit fragile, rather than an inconvenience!

Watch out for the Portsmouth Episode - I will tell you what happens there on 8th Oct!

I've not been around the Darren Hayes arena that long, but I have to say from what I read and how I take what I read...trying to be as objective as possible...it seems Darren is micromanaged so much it has to cause problems like the feelings the poster had. In a word...control freaks!
I see no need to insult anyone who wanted to see Darren whether they won a radio contest or signed up for the fan club. Fans are fans and to treat any fan differently from another is just setting Darren up to be critiqued when I doubt he knows what is happening.
I also think that he should be told what is planned so he can decide if that is how he wishes to come across.
I try to think honestly if I were there with a radio pass and had to leave...well, I've not been around long enough to have anything to say to him so it wouldn't have mattered to me. What would have mattered would have been being talked to like a child or a bother. It would have made me feel like a begger off the street he couldn't wait to get rid of. And since the person didn't know what took place on the board, how could she help but be offended.
And this person has been a fan for a long time...maybe even longer than the fans who belonged to the fan club..who knows...but positive support is essential either way.
Honest opinion...I think it's the fan club issue all over again. And that's so sad to me, since not everyone even knows about the damn club! And it seems his management...whom I wish to think is controling this mess...needs to remember that word of mouth is the best advertisment Darren can get and it's free, honest and he doesn't have to get out of bed for it!

i just gotta say that this phrase - "Darren has a special place in his heart for his fans and he made sure all the other M&G winners (from radio comps etc) left, before he talked to his fans alone" - left me a bit cold. His fans? I realize that very often people who win radio competition things are often not fans at all, just people with too much luck and freetime (these being the people who always win when i don't ha ha!) but that's not a nessesarily given @_@ Not "his" fan unless you pay, eh? Ohhhh my *giggle* *knows she's putting her own spin on the account, just so you know* [img]wink.gif[/img]

well I totally feel sorry for the girl. Thats not an opportunity its a meet and fake it cattle call!!! I dont think you have to be a member of any fanclub to be treated special. You only have to connect to the music. I would be dissapointed to be treated like a child too. His *people* should get a clue and start treating people like adults and not little screamin kiddies. Not everyone is like that!!!

From what I saw at the concert the MAJORITY of Darren's fans are not like that!
